    Gorilla habituation experience safari in Uganda

    Gorilla habituation experience involves the process in which the endangered mountain gorillas staying in the wild are trained by professional researchers and trackers so that these animals get used to the people or human beings coming to see them. Gorilla habituation was introduced in 2014 because of the demand of the visitors to spend more time with the endangered mountain gorillas. The mountain gorillas trekking experience is being done only in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is found in the southwestern part of Uganda. The gorilla habituation process is done by the park group staff composed of trackers, then guides, researchers, park rangers and this process lasts for about 3 years or 2.

     In Uganda, the gorilla habituation experience is done in the southern region of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the Rushaga sector and this activity enables the group of 4 people who will spend more time with the endangered mountain gorillas. The activity of the gorillas trekking commences early in the morning and it starts with the activity of the briefing about the dos and don’ts that you need to follow during the gorilla habituation experience.

    The activity starts early in the morning at around 7; 30am and it is done with the researchers, park rangers among others. With the gorillas trekking safari, you will be able to spend 4 hours of seeing the gorillas in the activity and this lasts for more than one hour as compared to the normal gorillas trekking where you spend one hour.

     During the gorilla habituation experience, you will be able to face the endangered mountain gorillas and learn more about the gorillas including their lifestyle, see how the animals do move, behaviors, as you take photos, lifestyle and this is so much interesting. The activity is led by a team of gorilla trackers and ensures that the gorillas can easily trek and the gorilla trekking experience will be so much interesting.

    Visitors who are interesting in the gorilla habituation experience will need to have the gorilla habituation experience, will need to have the gorilla habituation permit which will be done and issued by the Uganda wildlife Authority or through the prominent tour operators. The Gorilla habituation permits in Uganda costs $1500 for the foresight Nonresidents, and $1000 for the Foreign residents while the east African citizens will have to pay Uganda shillings 750000. This clearly shows that the gorilla habituation experience is a bit expensive as compared to then normal gorilla trekking which costs only $700 per person for the Foreign Nonresidents.

     When can I book the gorilla habituation permit?

     The gorilla habituation permit can be booked any time but it is good that you book the permit early enough about 3 months before your actual date of travel. The experience is done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the Rushaga sector and only four permits are available on daily basis. Last-minute booking is not good as you can get disappointed especially when you find that the gorilla habituation permit has been all sold off.

     When to go for the gorilla habituation experience 

     In Uganda, the gorilla habituation experience  is done all day and month throughout the year. However, the optimum time to visit is during the dry season, which lasts from June to February and includes the months of June, July, August, September, December, January, and February. The dry season is also known as the peak season, and it is during this time that many visitors prefer to travel because it is a season with less precipitation, which means that the frontage roads to Rushaga will be tolerable, and gorilla journeying trails in the wilderness will be dry and acceptable, making gorilla adjustment fruitful, as opposed to the wet/blustery season, when gorilla journeying trails are sloppy and tricky, making gorilla journeying troublesome.

    Booking a gorilla habituation permit

    Visitors who are interested in gorilla habituation experience will need to book the gorilla habituation permit which is easy to provide you follow the right procedure. The gorilla habituation permit in Uganda can be booked through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or through the tour operators that are well recognized and registered locally in Uganda. This is a well-known visit organization that arranges gorilla safaris for a variety of reasons. When you need to participate in the gorilla adjustment experience, you will contact us with the date, month, and year. We’ll check for grant accessibility, and if the license is available, you’ll be contacted to set up an installment for the gorilla habituation permit. After the purchase has been completed, you will be asked to give your filtered visa data, which will be used to apply for your grant. We will then obtain the grant on your behalf and send you a filtered copy of the receipt as confirmation.

     Lodges for the gorilla habituation experience

    There are several lodges around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you can stay when you’re doing the gorilla habituation experience and these lodges range from Budget, midrange, and luxury gorilla trekking safaris. Some of the lodges where you can stay include Bwindi Jungle Lodge, Nshogi Gorilla camp, Gorilla Valley Lodge, Chameleon Hill, Ichumbi Lodge, Rushaga gorilla camp Nsongi gorilla camp among other accommodation facilities. All the lodges provide the visitors with proper and standard facilities such as the restaurant, bar and all connected with Wifi.

    Gorilla habituation is a lifetime experience that you don’t need to miss especially when you want to spend more time with the mountain gorillas in Africa.
