The Ruhija area can be visited at any time of year, but the ideal months to visit are June, July, August, September, December, January, and February during the dry season. Because there is less precipitation in the recreation area during the dry season, following the gorilla family is more rewarding because the frontage roads to Ruhija and gorilla journeying trails in the wilderness will be dry and acceptable, as opposed to the blustery season, which occurs from March to May and October to November, when there is heavy precipitation, making gorilla journeying trails and recreation area access streets sloppy and dangerous.
